Press Shots for indie rock bands

I've looked in to Vampire Weekend and some of their press shots and spreads for inspiration for what type of pictures we could use to help advertise the band. In ways such as costumes and locations which will appeal to our target audience.

Website Anaylsis Vampire Weekend

I've chosen to look at Vampire Weekends website (http://www.vampireweekend.com/) as they are a also an indie rock band like the Silent Sundays which we have chosen to use music from. By looking at a band within the same genre as ours we will be able to take influences which will relate to the fans base.

The front of the website is advertising their newest ablum with the chance to click to listen to the songs and the videos as well as being able to scroll around the front page with your mouse to uncover lyrics to there songs (shown below).

Other pages on the website include there news, upcoming gigs, contact information, links page (to twitter, facebook and myspace), videos, music and photos of the band this keeps there fans and audience in touch with them.There is also an option in the top right hand corner to insert your email address so they can add you to their mailing list.

The other tab on their website is to their merchandise store where fans can purchase items such as t-shirts, jumpers, bags, CD's and posters with the bands logos and picture on.

The album covers below are of other indie, and indie rock artists. As the song we are using is called the midnight wanderer it represent isolation which i think should be shown within the album cover. some of the album covers below show isolation, while others show the artists themselves.

 I was successful because i have reached my target and was one point away from exceeding it

This is what i need to improve on is deadlines and prepare even more for the exam and be more organised and confident with certain tasks, polish over video sound, evaluations need work.

talyor swift - love story

narrative video

presents a sequence of events, in a linear fashion love stories are the most common

this video is a love story being told as romeo and juliet

with the locations changing from presents day school back to some time in the 1900's where the costumers are big ball gowns and big puff shirts, where most of the video is filmed in a castle or in a field showing the love is not to be seen by others

 

it beings with a shot reverse shot of the lovers meeting each others eyes (love at first sight) before changing to the olden times with close ups of clothings there is a point of view shot of 'juliet' running down the stairs to meet her Romeo

editing is quick and chaging fats between the boy and girls faces showing the audience the reaction they have to each other, there is backing music which consitsts of drums and guitars as well as backing vocal with 'juliet' lip syncing to the lyrics majority of teh way through the video

the metaphorial relationship between the images are structured according to sounds, musical and visual ryhmes which plays a sugegstive role for the viewer/listeners

kelly clarksons song invovles the viewers by having clips of them performing/participating the dance routine at each chorus

It shows kelly clarkson and her band performing

kelly clarkson is seen to be in a control room which on screens behind has the videos of fans participating in the dance routine

the other main location for the video is the performance area with a small stage behind with her band on

quick clips, jumps from kelly clarkson doing the dance routine to her fans doing the dance routine

lip syncing throughout teh video as well as instrument syncing

all the fans videos are low angle shots showing them performing teh dance routine and all have a shake to them giving them a home video feel

at the end of the video there is a point of view shot of fans and kelly clarkson herself performing teh dance routine all together

Wiley is a well known grime artist and in this video he has recreated himself with a hip-hop genred song which appealled to a wide audience making it his first solo number one

With a few midshots of the women being mashed inbetween the quick shots,

Heatwave is a summer party anthem which is set in a hot country with palm tree and beachs to the pool,

The people in the video are mostly women in revealing clothes appealing to the man eye,

In the video there is a small dog which is given its own close ups which are very popular with the public at the moment

Within the video the shots are constanly changing with the fastpast backing track,

There is lip syncing throughout the video with wileys lyrics as well as Ms Ds ones although Ms D is not present lip syncing in the video but the part is taken over by multiple of girls
